WESTMINSTER, Maryland, April 2, 2014 – 3M Electronics Markets Materials Division (EMMD) has released a new product designed specifically for the electronics industry, 3M 8926 Thermally Conductive Adhesive Tape. This adhesive contains thermally conductive particles as well as flame resistant fillers. With a PET carrier, 3M 8926 was designed for ease of handling and use, reworkability, and the ability to easily convert so that it can be die cut into custom shapes and sizes. 3M 8926 is designed to provide end users with more flexibility than other thermally conductive adhesive tapes such as 3M 8820. 3M 8926 is half the cost of but twice as conductive as leading competitive products. This thermally conductive adhesive is available in multiple thicknesses for excellent wet-out or conformability to many different substrates. The adhesive family offers thickness options similar to 3M Acrylic Thermal Pads but has a higher adhesion performance enhancing design and assembly flexibility. 3M 8926 is available in thicknesses of .20mm, .25mm, and .50mm. 3M 8926 can be used for thermal management in electronic devices and general heat dissipation. It can also be used to bond and join parts in electronic products. Features Include:

  • Good thermal Conductivity (>1.5W/m-K)
  • Excellent Dielectric Performance
  • Low Thermal Impedance
  • Good Adhesion Performance
  • Vibration Damping

Application Ideas:

  • General Heat Sink Bonding
  • IC Chip Packaging Heat Conduction
  • Printed Circuit Board
  • LED Module/Board Bonding
  • Flat Panel Display Assembly (LCD, PDP, etc.)
  • COF Chip Heat Conduction
  • Mechanical Fastening
