The engineering and production facility at Strouse has gained experience with the design of adhesive products necessary to attach and contain heliostats, parabolic mirrors, junction boxes, bus bars, affix Potting Dams, cell panels and frame mounting components. Strouse has met the challenges presented by the strength of the attachment with respect to heat, ultra violet rays, moisture and the shock absorption and elasticity of the various die cut tapes and foams.
Strouse prototype constructions offer- Quick design modification and rapid turnaround of samples via laser output.
Recently, Strouse’s prototyping unit created a pair of foam potting dams used in the assembly of a PV junction box. Design particulars:
• Silicone, synthetic elastomere & acrylic adhesives offer:
- high tensile bond
- immediate adhesion to Fluoroplastic surfaces
- resistance to temperature extremes & moisture
• Die cutting of attachment components and EVA potting dams which provide:
- precision to within ± .005
- exact shape and less waste vs. epoxys and liquid adhesives
- availability as roll goods for production delivery systems
- foam, which conforms to compensate for outsourced production units
With the successful completion of testing,
these adhesive backed dams are now in production.
